What is BS8406:2020?

BS8406:2020 is the latest standard to be applied when organisers are planning for large public and private event. This British Standard gives recommendations for the safe and effective operation of Events, including the use of steward and staff background checks prior to appointment. Dependant on the scale of the Event an organiser may need to conduct a combination of our security vetting and screening checks.

Who should take note of this standard?

BS8406:2020 is aimed at companies that provide contractual event stewarding services and provides recommendations regarding the infrastructure, staffing, training, operation, and management of such organisations. This affects companies, local authorities, service providers, institutions, and individuals involved in: Event organising, Event Production, Venues hosting events, Exhibition or event contractors

BS8406:2020 Event Security Vetting

The aim of this standard is in line with health and safety legislation and looks to reduce potential accidents and injuries as well as avoiding the chaotic consequences of poor crowd control. It requires that each individual providing event stewarding or crowd control must have their risk assessed, evaluated, and documented so that the appropriate level of pre-employment screening is defined.
